Monday, September 4th, 2017, 5:00pm EDT: Monitoring Hurricane Irma

Status: Heightened Monitoring

Message: Monitoring Hurricane Irma

Webber International University is monitoring the approach of Hurricane Irma (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at1+shtml/204223.shtml?cone#contents).

The Campus Emergency Committee has been activated. We will meet on Tuesday, September 5th at 10:15 am and will continue to meet regularly until this storm had passed and the all clear has been given.

While Polk County, Florida is well inland and is generally recognized as an evacuation zone for coastal communities, during hurricane season Webber maintains a constant state of readiness. This includes such things as topping off cooking gas (we serve meals irrespective of whether we have electricity), stocking up on bottled water, etc. In the event that severe weather is expected, staff will remain on site throughout the storm to help insure safety and security of our residents.

A reminder that texting Webber to 888777 subscribes you to our emergency text notification system. Thank you for visiting http://www.WebberEmergency.com, the official emergency notification system of Webber International University.

Next Update: Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 11:00am EDT.
