Monday, September 11, 2017, 500 am EDT: The eye has passed, we are through the worst, and everyone on campus is safe.
It is still dark, we have no power, and there are tropical storm force winds. So damage assessment and reopening plans have not begun. But we are very blessed: everyone is safe.
Further announcements here as information becomes available.

We took a direct hit but it had weakened by the time it got here. The off campus students who stayed with us through the storm are safe. We are trying to check with the rest but have the same communications challenges — destroyed and overloaded cell towers – you do. We are monitoring news and Facebook – where many have checked in safe – and only injuries we have heard of were two deputies sheriff in Lakeland. Will continue to post updates as we have new i formation.

I’m glad to hear everyone is safe. Please take in consideration of the students who evacuated that will need the roads clear before they can return to campus. It is difficult for them to return by Tuesday.

I spoke to my son on campus. They have no power but running water for showers in dorms and plenty of food. They were given flashlights and they have a set up for everyone to be able charge cell phones in one area of campus. They are all safe and very cared for. Thank you Webber staff!
