Webber International University has issued an ALL CLEAR for Major Hurricane Ian. Students who evacuated may return to campus on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 and classes will meet as scheduled on Monday, October 3rd, 2022.
As reported yesterday morning, all students who stayed with us are safe. We have power, water, and internet, and regular food service resumed with breakfast this morning.
We are still assessing damage. At this point we know about some major roof damage and flooding. Maintenance stayed on campus during the storm, and our insurance company mobilized a disaster response team which has been helping with cleanup since yesterday, Thursday, September 29th, 2022 (which is why we ask that students who elected to evacuate or who live off campus not return until Saturday… there is a lot of clean up activity which goes faster and more safely with fewer people here).
Students who cannot make it back safely to class on Monday should communicate with the Academic Dean. Students with other needs or challenges should communicate with student life. Employees with needs or challenges should communicate with their immediate supervisor.
The is the last anticipated posting regarding Major Hurricane Ian.
